Occupational Therapist MSc
Specialist Occupational Therapist

Kate joined KW Therapy Ltd in March 2022 as a Specialist Occupational Therapist, bringing with her six years of valuable experience within the NHS. She qualified in 2016 after completing a BSc in Psychology followed by an MSc in Occupational Therapy.

Kate is passionate about ongoing professional development and maintains a comprehensive portfolio to support her learning. She regularly attends training sessions, conferences, and seminars to stay up to date with evidence-based practices and emerging approaches in occupational therapy.

Her clinical background spans a wide range of settings including general medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, and stroke/neurological rehabilitation. Prior to joining KW Therapy, Kate spent five years working in inpatient stroke and neuro-rehab services, where she specialised in functional assessments and therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing independence and improving quality of life.

Kate has extensive experience in:

  • Specialist wheelchair and seating assessments, including pressure management and postural support.
  • Home adaptations and equipment solutions, with a focus on functional, high-quality designs that integrate seamlessly into clients’ living environments.
  • Cognitive rehabilitation, using both standardised and non-standardised assessments to create tailored treatment plans.
  • Physical rehabilitation, where she supports clients with impairments by identifying practical solutions to promote independence in daily life.
  • Moving and handling, underpinned by strong clinical reasoning and regular education for families and carers.

She is particularly skilled in supporting clients with complex needs following brain injury. Her approach addresses not only physical and cognitive challenges but also behavioural presentations such as low insight, mood instability, disinhibition, and emotional regulation difficulties. Kate’s work is rooted in patience, sensitivity, and a person-centred ethos.

In all aspects of her practice, Kate adopts a holistic and client-centred approach. She ensures that therapy goals are meaningful and collaboratively agreed upon with clients and their families. Her strong communication and interpersonal skills enable her to build trusting relationships and maximise each individual’s potential for independence in daily life.
