KW Therapy Ltd was established in 2006 with Director Karen Wilding as a part time Independent practitioner. Over the years it became a full time role and the service and the company progressed to what it is currently. KW Therapy is a growing team. It took over a small office in 2014 and has since moved twice to meet the demand of the growing business.
Karen was inspired to become an Occupational Therapist after suffering an Incomplete Spinal Injury in 1987 when she was 13 years old. At the time she was unable to walk, dress, transfer and was a dependent wheelchair user. Over the years of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy rehabilitation, she was able to mobilise with splints and walking aids. Although Karen is now independent she still experiences physical difficulties resulting from the spinal injury but this does not hold her back in any way and lives life to the full.
One of the benefits of KW Therapy is that they have the professional experience to enable clients to reach their potential but through Karen’s personal experience they also have the ability to understand and empathise what the clients and families are experiencing.
KW Therapy is proud that our staff have a wide variety of specialist skills which can meet many clients needs. These include neurology; hand therapy; specialist equipment knowledge; specialist wheelchair assessments amongst many more. We have good relationships with specialist companies who can provide equipment and adaptation services promptly, efficiently and respectfully. We feel communication is key and work holistically with the referrer, client and client’s family and the wider clinical team to ensure that goals and/or a plan is agreed and actioned in line with what the client is comfortable with.
As Karen was given the opportunity to reach her potential she wants to ensure that others have the same opportunities and therefore strives to ensure that the services provided by KW Therapy are always the best they can be.
