Environmental adaptations are considered when an individual’s ability and potential to live in their own home has been compromised or reduced due to their presenting illness or condition.

We are conscious that image is important and that clients and families should have a choice in what they want as it is their home. Rather than provide just one piece of equipment we source a range of equipment that meets the client’s needs so that the client and family can choose what suits them in the knowledge that it meets the clients needs. There are many options available that provide independence that do not look ‘disabled’.
Whether it’s minor or major adaptations, Occupational Therapists within KW Therapy work closely with the family, health professionals and others such as Planners, Architects and Contractors. We ensure the client and family are included and kept informed at all stages.

Minor adaptations could include a ramp at the property or independent access to the toilet or bath. Major adaptations can include accessible bathrooms or kitchens including height adjustable worktops, accessible hot taps; or access to the property itself – electronic door openings, level access to the house; contemporary wet rooms; electronic curtain closing… the list is endless.
In order to restore or enable independent living, we are mindful of maintaining an individual’s dignity, privacy and quality of life outcomes at all times.
