Phoenix Flyerz Soapbox Kart progress so far..

Our Phoenix Flyerz soapbox kart build is progressing well and it is starting to look like a kart again.

Lots has happened since it landed in the warehouse 4 months ago, when it was stripped back to its bare bones.

Welding of each joint to make sure it can handle the bends in the course.  Spray-painted black to look mean and threatening.  And you wouldn’t believe how much time the lads have taken deliberating over the choice of wheels.  They’ve opted for wheelchair wheels to align with our theme of accessible sport.  The range of options available is immense.  It’s taken a good few weeks to decide on the right balance of strength and speed.  We think we have our final four, but this could well change again.

As this is Phoenix Flyerz ‘flagship’ kart, the theme for the design had to be accessible hockey.  So far we have the astro-turf pitch/bonnet fitted.  The team is still deciding where to put the hockey sticks and how many to add.  Weight and streamling being key considerations, they are competitive sports players after all.

Lots still to do in the run-up to Lancaster Crazy Races on 17th September.
