Mental health is a level of psychological well being. It can be described as the successful performance of mental function resulting in productive activities.
A person struggling with his or her mental health may experience stress, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, grief, addiction, ADHD or learning disabilities, mood disorders, or other mental illnesses of varying degrees.
The Therapists at KW Therapy are experienced in providing treatment programmes for those clients with Learning Difficulties and ADHD.
Mood and anxiety disorders can be treated with Anxiety Management, Sleep Hygiene, Relaxation and Breathing techniques
Activity therapies through occupational therapy input, promote healing through active engagement. These activity driven treatments may include encouraging engagement in everyday tasks within the home, play, or participating in craft activities such as knitting or baking. Learning a new skill/hobbies or taking up old hobbies again can prove to be beneficial in rehabilitation.
Gentle exercise programmes such as walks, swimming or attending a gym/exercise class can be a part of recreation therapy. Attendance at community classes results in increased socialisation and can reduce isolation which is a known implication of depressive illness.
All the therapy staff at KW Therapy are aware that mental health is a sensitive area and, as such, all clients are treated with dignity and privacy at all times whilst ensuring an individually tailored programme in order to achieve the best treatment outcomes.
