Steve Bayliss BSc OT
Steve is a state registered Occupational Therapist who has over 20 years experience working in Neuro-rehabilitation in both inpatient and community settings. His speciality is around acquired brain injury but he has experience in all neurological conditions and complex long-term conditions.
Steve's work with clients involves not only the support of clients needs but those of the family, carers, other professionals in order to optimise understanding of the medical condition and adjust and manage expectations and changes in functional ability.
Steve's experience working on an Intermediate Neuro Rehabilitation Ward and in the community has given him a good insight into how cognitive deficits can affect the functional ability of clients in a variety of settings and of how to manage this appropriately. With this experience programmes will be adjusted to consider these cognitive changes.
He provides services for clients of all ages but he specialises in Neurological disorders which affect the Brain and Spinal cord. He is able to refer/advise and treat clients to promote independence and quality of life whilst recognising activities promoted will be goal orientated taking into account lifestyle and the needs and wishes of the client. Steve has always worked with and values the importance of team working to coordinate the best possible outcomes.
Experience has been gained in rehabilitation following both physical and cognitive dysfunction and using the most appropriate environment to enhance the rehabilitation process. This can involve therapeutic moving and handling using normal movement principles to promote developmental recovery. He has also resourced the most appropriate equipment and adaptations for clients, wheelchair assessments, provided appropriate customised splints. He provides assessments and reports as and when required.
